Competition is good for motivational purposes. However, extreme competition is destructive. While you always want to strive to do your best, your competitive nature can undermine you. It can cause you to be so absorbed with the end result that you fail to appreciate the journey. And if you're not paying attention to what is currently going on, you may actually miss seeing something that would be more efficient that could get you the end results much less effortlessly. So always strive to do your very best, but don't loose track of simple pleasures along the way.
8/2/07 Lord, help us to be the very best we can be on whatever path you place us. Along the path show us all your blessings and remind us to take the time to enjoy them. Amen.
